Keerthanna Jothiraman began her dance journey with Bharathanatyam at age 5. She was introduced to the art of Kuchipudi by Late Guru Smt. Chitti Durga Devi, senior disciple of Guru Vempati Chinna Sathyam and director of Nartana Dance school, when she was 8 years old. She did her kuchipudi Rangapravesham at age 12 at Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan Chennai, under the auspices of Bharat Ratna Sri. C. Subramaniam, former governor of Maharashtra. She has performed lead roles in several of her Guru’s dance dramas. Her passion towards choreography kindled the interest in learning nattuvangam as well.

After the demise of her Guru, she joined NARTANASALA school of dance run by Guru Dr. Sathyapriya Ramana, senior disciple of Guru Vempati Chinna Sathyam. She is blessed to have 2 gurus who had taught kuchipudi to students at the Kuchipudi Art Academy, Chennai. Keerthanna is exploring the art and abhinaya under the able mentorship of Acharya Dr. Sathyapriya and performed in several dance dramas such as Gangavatharanam, Sri Krishna Parijatham, Shivoham etc. She also underwent advanced Abhinaya training under Vidushi Smt. Rama Vaidyanathan and Guru Smt. Nithyakalyani Vaidyanathan. 

Keerthanna has more than 2 decades of experience in performing kuchipudi and was awarded the titles ‘NATYA KALA POORNA’ and ‘SWARNA MAYURI’ for her prowess in the dance form. She has won several competitions and awards from all over India. Keerthanna is an ‘A’ graded artist of Chennai Doordarshan. She is also a Carnatic vocalist and violinist and her knowledge of music enhances her dance – making her choreography a studied yet instinctive response to melody and rhythm. She is currently learning music under the tutelage of Sri Paramakudi Ravindran, disciple of Acharya Choodamani Sri. A. Sundaresan for the past decade.

Keerthanna is an active volunteer in the Colorado(USA) cultural scene. She served as the cultural secretary for both the Kerala Association of Colorado and Tamil Association of Colorado. She currently serves in the Board of the Colorado Fine Arts Association (non-profit organization).

She is also the founder and Artistic Director of Gaandharva Kshethram Performing Arts , teaches Carnatic Music and Kuchipudi in  Colorado, USA. Keerthanna Jothiraman holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science and worked as a software engineer for several years. However, her strong calling for dance made her give up a career in IT to pursue a full-time career in her lifelong passion of the Arts.
